Given some thoughts into the User Interface design, The style I mentioned previously was too "boxy" for my liking as the style I'm doing is more sketchy, so I drew freestyle for the UI design. As I drew it I quite like the outcome but it seems that I'm not improving the previous design, it is just a redraw of the previous design. I felt a bit stuck on this because there wasn't much reference to look at for these kind of style or maybe I was not digging deep enough. The reference I look at is as mentioned before for UIs, and it is:

The artist for this work seem to make the UI look so seamlessly into the setting but when I do it, it doesn't feel right to me.

On the image above is the timer UI design drawn using Procreate on iPad. The circular design on the outside was a visual que to let users know time is running out and the inner circle is a additional countdown to show it. All design has this visual but the timer is only included for lower right set, the other 2 sets did not have the timer. I think the additional timer might be too redundant since the visual is already quite self-explanatory. I also realize it is so hard to merge Sci-Fi and sketchy art style together, for some reason I was not very happy with it.

I also placed the designs on the scene to see if it works, the colours did not merge into the scene which is a good sign and the readability is also good. The problem I had was that it doesn't seem to fit in quite nicely to the scene as I would like it to be.

As for this warning interface when users are at the dead end, the style reminds me of what I already did for my animatics which is not good as it should be an upgrade to it, not similar.

This is a pop-up menu for the tutorials to inform users what they should do to interact with the project. Again, I quite like it but it does not tie back to my intended art style. I confronted my advisor about this creative block that I have and she pointed something to me that I have not noticed, which is that the sketchy style that I have done all includes black bold outlines which aren't consistent and this was lacking in these designs. It makes a lot of sense and I really never even thought about it, I guess it's back to the drawing board!
