Since I have made the decision to change my chosen platform to Virtual Reality, I will need to explore the possibilities within the platform. I borrowed the school's Oculus Quest home for a week to play with its games and do some research. The interactivity is very versatile, it allows 360 degree view and the controllers are very easy to use and understand.

I played with several games and Beat Saber, Super Hot and Sport Games were some of them. It was my first time playing with a VR headset and my first impression was that the space I was in felt very real. I fell in love with the idea that I was instantly transported to another dimension as wherever I was looking at did not felt like I was in reality, living in that story. I started to think that changing platforms was a right choice, users can be transported to a space so real. Looking back at my storyboard, there were fragmented thoughts of how the keyframing will be, provided the platform is not your average view. I thought of wanting the storyline to be presented in a way that the users can be in a first person view then panning out to be a third person view, playing with angles. I think this will be an interesting touch as films in general don't often practice this kind of viewing method to the viewers. I thought that since films aren't usually presented in a VR platform, of course there has to be something different with the visuals/view too.

After getting a hang of the platform, I started to watch tutorials on learning how to plug the Oculus Quest into Unity so I could start creating the environment design for prototyping as everything is very new to me, I needed to start this process quick. I watched about 3 different methods to link the headset to Unity but there are complications for all 3 videos. I kept following the steps one by one but it kept not working. I even reached out to Eric (my senior that's one batch earlier than me) to ask him his ways of doing it. I asked him through text and I guess it was harder to communicate and he didn't have any idea why it isn't working either. I reached out to my follow classmate for help but she isn't using the same headset (She's using a HTC Vive) as I am, nor has she started linking up her headset to Unity as well but she did advise me to look for Min Ken as he is more specialized in it. I looked for him the next day to seek for help. Turns out the settings for the current version of Unity has changed the UI for the VR segment, certain settings according to the videos were outdated and is no longer wokring in the new update. At last, the test environment that was provided was able to be detected in the Oculus Quest. Now that I got this problem solves, hopefully creating the environment will not be too much of a problem. Thank you Min Kennnnn!
