W8 | Formative Assessment Feedback Session

I presented my current progress to my advisor and all of the specialists and happen to gain some new perspective on my project. The most significant one is that Ron and Linyew thinks that the idea of utilising the LIDAR and projector to realise immersive design might not be the most efficient way to visuallise the core intentions of my project. They think that the storytelling, and the execution method proposed can be implemented in virtual reality and that the immersive storytelling will be more dynamic and meaningful that way. Rather than solving the many technical issues that will they foresee as its physical setup can be quite a handful, they are concerned that with the heavy workflow of generating my content and visuals together with the storytelling will be already too much to handle, let alone packed up with more technical uncertainties. They asked me whether if VR platform will be a better choice rather than doing a physical setup will be more efficient and it is a question that I will need to decide for myself.

As for the feedback of my advisor, she is very concerned of my development stage and that I should already start working and experimenting with the technical side to confirm the feasibility of my chosen platform. For visual wise, there was no objections on it and they think it will be amazing if I really manage to achieve it.

I took some time to digest and thought about the VR platform consideration, I think that what the specialist said makes a lot of sense. Since my project is heavily on storytelling and involving the users into the life of a content moderator, the platform will allow me to create very interesting angles to visuallise the users using their body to interact with the content. Moreover, the platform allows 360 degree exploration of space, what better wide screen is there than this?
