I coincidentally met some high school friends one day when I was testing the Oculus Quest, they came to my friend's house right after I posted an Instagram story of my friend doing some silly dance with the VR set as I was testing with her. We chatted a bit and I happen to talk about my final year project. Among 2 of those friends, one is studying cinematography (Mike) and the other is a music composer (Darren). I scheduled another meet up with them to further explain my storyline and concept to gain some feedback as well as reaching out to the music composer to help me out on the audio part. Mike introduced me to a few cinematography terms and suggested me a few films that utilises the VR platform and shorts that I might be able to draw inspiration from. He think that my story needs a part where users have some sort of build up leading to the explicit content chasing them instead of the contents straight up starts chasing, this way it will make users have a deeper connection to the story, if not it will be too easy for the users/viewers. Another side input from Darren is that from his interpretation, the girl character could be the "virus" because of her curiosity, she is invading a space that she has no access to, in the end she bear the burden of what she saw. It is quite insightful for me because in the end I want users to interpret the story themselves, different people has different perception of the story and the outcome can be seen from him giving me his thoughts on this semi-completed storyboard.

//AUDIO

Initially I have some fragmented thoughts on which music I could use to start building the animatics where I craft the visuals based on the soundtrack. The initial considerations were either "Melodymania" or "Razor Sharp" by Pegboard Nerds, although they are quite suitable for the project but somehow it's still lacking, the song is not exciting enough or has a drop for the sudden change of atmosphere, but it does have the techno cyber mood and feel I wanted. When I was testing the Oculus Quest, I happen to come across this game called Beat Saber and this one song grabbed my attention immediately, which was "Escape by Jaroslav Beck ft. Summer Haze". Once I heard this song although it is the official song for the game, I knew I wanted to use this song or a least the rhythm and melody of this song to start crafting the visuals. The music has a slow build up, exciting chorus and a drop right after. To add, the song title: "Escape" along with the lyrics, matches my storyline perfectly, and that the lyrics are very few so I think this song will be very easy to work with. I reached out to Darren to help me out on the audio part as I have no knowledge in altering music let alone remixing it. Although the song is suitable, I still think there can be alterations to it to make the music more dramatic for both energetic music during the chase and dark moods for the office scene, some more kick to it will be much much muchhhh more amazing than it already is. Darren has remixed techno songs and trap before so I trust his skills wholeheartedly.
