Today Johnathan Lim, who is a motion graphics lecturer came for the consultation as well. I took the opportunity to ask him regarding to some Cinema 4D tips such as rendering and displacement mapping. I shared the kind of art style and potential outcomes to him and he provided me some tips on how to recreate some of the scenes. He introduced JS Placement to me to ease the modelling process of a Sci-Fi environment. I downloaded the software on the spot and he gave me some pointers such as how to create my own bump map to have a more realistic material outcome. The tip was that the different use of colours will create different heights of the material, black will create bumps and white will create dents. He also recommended me different youtube videos to learn this skill. The session was only a short one as he only dropped by for awhile but the insight I gained for modelling complex Sci-Fi environment was a handful.

// Later on

I had a group discussion with my piers to get different perception of my project idea. Jia Hui was one of them and after I explain my project theme and core topic, she allowed me to think in a different perspective. She mentioned that perhaps the users will have a sense of "wanting to help" because that's what he felt after listening to me explaining my project. I explained to her that majority of the content moderators suffer from trauma that is incurable and has hallucinations often due to the stress they are put under, she then recommended me a book to read regarding to the human state of mind that I could perhaps look into. The book content is about how the brain has 2 different consciousness and how it interpret information. One is the consciousness that collects information we are not aware of, and the other is daily decision making. I find it an interesting concept to think about because it correlates to the content moderators state of mind and perhaps could be implemented in the storytelling. She also mentioned that the core experience she's gotten from the project through my explanation is empathy. Perhaps I was so fixated on telling the story of trauma, I overlooked this core feeling/experience they might feel? She also suggested that perhaps towards the ending of my project, there could be a question pointed at the audience to inflict thoughts which I find an interesting concept. I have not fully developed my storyboarding as I am still gathering information to further culture myself on this topic and speaking to her gave me more ideas!
